I think we are getting closer to laying tile in our bathroom!!! Charlie should finish the paint (remember — it’s going to be the same shad as a Tiffany jewelry box!!) tomorrow and we will head to home depot to buy our tile. We already picked it out and then heard something about EPI ratings?? So now we have to make sure if has a high enough rating so we don’t waste our time and money. We knew we were replacing the carpet (YES, carpet in our bathroom, yuck!) so we have NOT protected it. It’s actually kinda funny how bad it is. I will definitely have to take a picture of how messy we were.
My sister came by yesterday after taking her daughter to the eye doctor. I have to go the store today so I can get a ruler w/ mm measurements so I can make sure I ordered proper glasses for her from Zenni Optical (glasses starting at $8!!!). Awesome place to get your glasses.
Here is the video for my SECOND TTT – I would LOVE to have other bloggers participate and link back in the comments!!! If you wouldnt mind pass it along

This one is almost entirely for my MOM. She gets the biggest kick out of how Lucas just DEVOURS food and wanted me to get him eating pizza on video. It’s hilarious, really. He eats it from the middle and has no shame what so ever. Cute. (for now…)
All I ask is that you link people to my blog somehow so they can play along too…and make sure you leave me a coment if you decide to play along!
Okay. So, not they aren’t REALLY MY girls but they are my “my” girls. Alison and Brittany are 14 today. They are my nieces. They were born 33 1/2 minutes apart. They won’t REALLY be 14 until later this evening. .
I remember the night before VERY clearly. We knew my sister was going to go in labor ANY day so Mom and I were staying with her. She woke up and was telling us something about not feeling good and her back hurting (your back would hurt too if you were carring almost 14 pounds of baby)!! SHe was about to step over me to go back to her room and just as her leg went over it shot right back down and she told us her water just broke. (almost ON me).
We headed to the hospital and many hours later Brittany was born at 7lbs 8 oz and Alison at 6 lbs 1 and 1/2 oz.
Here they are around 9 months
and here they are now.
I just can’t believe they are young ladies and not babies. I was around them SO SO much when they were little it was like they were MINE. They were there when I woke up (Sis dropped them off when she went to work) and when I came home from school. We even did some co-sleeping (at times sister had to work more than one job).
People sometime thought that one was mine and one was my sisters. Aaaah… And now how fast our MY boys going to grow???!
Stellan is getting worse(but stable for NOW) … please support her however you know how!! It sound like they need a miracleif he is going to pull through.
Alden is home and prayers and thoughts have worked for her.
Please follow these two links and do whatever it is you do when someone is sick and needs prayers, positive thoughts, a hope for a miracle/good doctors. WHATEVER. Just please visit these two peoples blogs and “help” however you think you can.
Baby Stellen/ — This is a a new blog I am following but it hits me SO close and so hard because her “McMuffin” is only a couple of months younger than Lucas. I don’t really know her well but just seeing her baby going down hill so fast over the last day just makes me want to cry and scream and then hug my baby and be ever so grateful that he is healthy. Then I feel guilty.
Alden – this young lady was doing so well and then had a leukemia relapse. – We met them through Tim and Elissa when we lived on Cap Rock.
So my littlest stinker still won’t say “mama” or “mommy” … I’ve heard him say something kinda like “buba” … “owsi” (outside?) and kiki (kitty?). .. but his FAVORITE. word. EVER. is “hi” . He says it at least 100 times a day. NO JOKE!
Yesterday I was doing the usual.. “say mama” “say mommy” and he looked right at me … put his mouth in the M shape. Raised his eyebrows. Smiled. and said………….
“hi!”
Yeah… he’s doing it on purpose.
oooh and he WAVED for the first time yesterday. A kid at tae kwon do told him “bye” and he siad …
you guessed it. “hi” and he waved!!!

So.. I made this last night. Total Yumminess. It was super easy too (just make sure you use the jar of salsa as opposed to making your own). It just had this awesome, intense mixture of flavors that just went SO SO Well together. The only change is I am going to actualyl BLEND the salsa next time so it’s less chunky. The directions actually have you put it in a food processor if you make your own.
The salsa we used (our fave brand of salsa .. many varieties available)
I am launching something new … I am going to call it TUBE TIME THURSDAY!! I want to get other bloggers to participate too!!
It will be fun and simple and a little insightful into other’s lives. All you do is share a video or two of something or someone(s) in your life. You can go into as much detail about what’s “behind” the video as you like or just post the video . It’s up to you.
Here is a button for your sidebar: (please be sure to save it and host it yourself please)

This week I have TWO videos… both of my boys are BIG helpers (not sure why but they have both ALWAYS loved to put clothes in/out of the washer and dryer) and my big boy likes to spray and wipe the table….who is going to argue with that!?!
Lucas is really fussy today but Will is being really good so that helps. A lot!! Hm… What else??
OOh yes, I changed my blog theme and added my twitter!! Do you like it?! I will update the graphics soon too…I get bored with those fast so the appearnce of my blog is forever changing.
No, I am talking about Targets new store brand of diapers.(yeah, so I posted the link just in case you don’t want to take MY word for it) I bought them on a recent trip to target because they were new and had polka dots. Who doesn’t love polka dots?!!
Anyways, I don’t think there is anything else positive to say about them. Well, I guess my peanut didn’t “complain”. Well……… he ALWAYS fights daiper changes so how would I know?! LOL
They were scratchy and stiff
they ran small – I bought a 3 and they BARELY fit (Lucas is 14 months and 20.5 lbs.-just barely in a Pampers 3)
———
I also finished my 3rd Jodi Picoult book (Nineteen minutes) last night. . .
i’ll have to talk about that another day. I will say I liked it better than the other two (harvesting the heart and My sister’s keeper):D

OOOOOOOOOOOOOooh and some really famous TV reality series contacted me today …… I’ll post about that later.
Lucas had a follow-up and all is well. We’ve been mixing his nasty-nasty juice with ICE COLD juice what do you know ….. HE DRINKS IT ALL UP!!!!
I went back to my dermatologist today too. I made an appointment with a family physician in the Peds office and she really didnt know … and worked her magic to get me in to the derm TODAY. Origianlly it was going to be the partner but 10 minutes later called and said my doc had an opening in an hour and a half. I jumped on it. He’s stumped. That’s all there is to it. I was on prednisone for 3ish weeks and it has NOT improved. He thought it was an allergy..now we think it might be something else but he ran a quick test for that and didnt find evidence it could be that. Anyways it is potentially contagious for people in the same house so we are all being treated for it now. Blech.
I hope it helps. That was my day. Docotors and pharmacies.
Ok . … Off to read a few blogs and maybe finish my book…..and when Charlie gets home we treat Will and get him to bed. I’m letting him stay up tonight .
Monday we went to the doctor and that night treated Lucas for a rash. Tuesday he was really grumpy after nap and got over it (remember the layout I made?). Wednesday same thing after nap but it lasted longer, he had a fever (101.4, gave him tylenol) and really nasty fluid filled, pimple-like bruised looking thing on his foot. You can see it here if you really want to. I called Charlie and asked him to call and make me an appointment because there was NO WAY a nurse would hear me long enough to do it myself.
Ok .. so at 5:30 we went to the after hours appointment. When we got there and back into our room he had an “interesting” (as we would heear MANY times that night) rash. It looked like a rash common in scarlet fever or strep throat and he still had a fever after taking the tylenol 2 hours before. They did a rapid swab for that and it came back negative so we then wenet for a CBC. I won’t get into how ticked the tecchs almost made me but let’s just say they did NOT wrap him in a sheet (he has always HATED to be wrapped in a blanket) and put him on a table while they did it. I held him and it worked just fine.
A couple of pics from the doctor ( Will was a really good boy and very patient!!)
So we wait a little more. White count come back at 20,000. She can’t figure anything out so she brings in another doctor. He doesnt know either. They tell us to go to Dell Childrens and just as ee are about to give him motrin and he throws up……… yikes.
We call my friend Shawn and she tells me Will can go there. We do that and get ourselves drive through. The ER process went pretty quickly (not sure if Dell chldren’s is just that awesome, if they werent busy or if the doctor calling ahead helped).
This is probably more rambling then anyone wants to hear but I want to keep a record of it anyways…
Ok .. we get back to our ER room and after hearing interestinga few times they drain the ugly foot thing and send the swab off to the lab … ooh and they did another rapid swab test on throat since it looks a little or a lot red depending on who looks.
They start antibiotics and admit him for the night.
We both stay, of course and get very little sleep. The next day we get another negative on strep so they say maybe hand, foot and mouth. That doesnt really add up but it’s the next “best thing”. They stop all antibioticsT and want to keep him another night just in case. This is how we slept both nights and days for naps…. (good gravy I look like death warmed over…. but peanut is surely cute!)
I call my sister and she comes into town (2.5 hours away) and helps us out with Will.
Much later that day they find our he has STAPH..or at least staph growing in the culture from foot swab.
Grandma Patti also went to the house since we had a bit of a disaster with Will and the hosptial. When we found out it was staph we didnt want him touching anything in the room Things worked out in the end and we may have over reacted a little but we were stressed and tired.. what can I say?
We had another rough night and the yesterday we got to come home with 7 days of antibioics. That was long winded and probably confusing.
Video of him playing while we were in the hospital and a huge shout out to their Child Life department and the hospital in general. It turns out we know several people employeed by Dell Children’s
I haven’t posted in a couple of days because we ended up taking Lucas to the hospital Wednesday night and we were just released today. It’s all related to that silly rash. I am way to tired and exhausted to go into details right now but everything is okay now.
Tuesday is my favorite day of the week; it’s Pizza and game night, after all. What’s not to love?! We taught Will to play UNO. That was fun. Who would think a 4 year old would catch on to games so easily? He never ceases to amaze me with his smarts!!!
Here are a couple of pics. One is a ferryboat that Will built for his cars and the other is just my handsome boy. ( I say boy instead of boys because you cant see Lucas clearly…you can in the other shot I took but he is screaming BLOODY murder)
Lucas hasnt been feeling well. He got this weird rash that I’ve had for a few months. He’s taken meds for it and we are just waiting to see if they work. Anyways, he’s been a total grouch. I, of course, had to make a Layout about it. What kind of scrapper would I be if I didn’t?
Everything is from Edeline Designs, debuting soon at a new store…..I’ll update credits when I can.
I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up since my meds didn’t work. Blech.
This weeks menu has been posted and I added another new page (foodroll) that will include recipes I find on varies blogs….
Yesterday started our pretty average, but around 2:45 that all changed. We were heading out for an appointment and the garage door would NOT open. Now, if you know me, you know this is BAD. It’s my only way out of the house (unless you count the back yard). I tried the garage door button AGAIN and still nada. Somehow, a string had been pulled and it thought it was already open — I don’t really know, something like that. Anyways, I called my darling husband because I was starting to panic. Who wants to be trapped in a house with kids and no way to get out (WE MUST MAKE RAMP ON FRONT DOOR PRIORITY!)??
Anyways, he called the neighbor (I need to get that number….) and he came and manually opened the door for me. We got in the van and headed to our appointment. This “delay” almost made me late but Charlie met us there to help me out so I could get in faster and then he headed home to fix whatever hte heck was wrong.
The rest of the day went mostly smooth.
Will is without video games right now and he keeps complaining about THAT….but he really needed the break from it.
Charlie had to work late so the boys and I had make shift dinner. I had La Madeline Tomato Basil. Oh. My. Goodness. This is my favorite soup ever. I am beyond thrilled that it comes in a jar from my local grocery store. The best part is that it tastes EXACTLY the same. The bad part is that I can eat the ENTIRE jar and it has about 64 grams of fat and 680 calories. But it is ssoooo worth it so who cares.
Lucas has chicken nuggets and spoonful after spoonful of avocado. Crazy kid. Will…well he had nuggets and yogurt. No avocado for him, lol.
I got BOTH boys to bed by 7:40. GO ME.
Just when Charlie was on his way home he discovered the clutch was broken in his loaner. It was after 10 so there was no way I could go out after him so he called josh. Two hours later and a little more drama and he was finally home.
I decided to not recap until today and now I am not sure I will even come close to remembering everything I waned to include in my update.
Thursday night around 8 my sister Cindy came into town. I have this note on the door that says, “Do NOT ring the door bell, baby sleeping”. I bet you know where this is going, right? LOL. Yup. She rang the bell. I asked her if she saw the note and she said she did, but just thought it was probably there all the time and was just for during the day………LOL. No silly, the doorbell will wake him at night too…and it did. He fussed for about 30 seconds so it wasn’t too bad.
Friday we just did some running around and hit up Ross and IKEA. I know I am going to be in the minority here but I REALLY do not like that store. It was only my second time and I thought I liked it the first time, but….Ikea is not for me. Everything is far too modern. Some of it is okay … but I think i am more of a traditional kind of girl when it comes to stuff for the house.
Will and Lucas liked the play area though.
We stayed up talking untiil about one in the morning…that was fun. I’d never done that before with this sister.
Saturday Charlie had to fix a flat (took it to tire store) before she could go home. (nail). Will was bummed to see her leave but we got ready and headed out to meet friends at Chuck E Cheese. Their safety practices really do work in case you were ever wondering. When we were leaving a girl about 9 was trying to leave with a teenager and their numbers didnt match but the girls parents had already left….I don’t know the whole story and they were eventually alowd to leave, but I could tell she had the girls parents on the phone and they had to find an employee that did indeed know the tewo were “together” earlier at a party. So there you have it. Chuck E Cheese will hold our kids hostage if someone tries to leave with them that “shouldn’t”.
Here is Will playing:
Sunday we just did stuff, and Charlie primed the bathroom so we should be able to paint soon. Sunday another sister (susan), her boys and our stepdad came into town and we all went out to eat. We went to Maudie’s. It is the BEST. Place. EVER. We just love it. There were 8 of us and the bill before tip was under $60. Granted my stepdad didnt eat and Lucas ate off my plate….BUT we did ordere an appetizer. The place just rocks. If you live in Austin you HAVE To go.
Big sis is here so no update today.
Don’t forget about the vacuum contest…and I have a question about noise that you may have missed yesterday because my blog was down a large part of the day so make sure you scroll down if you haven’t already seen it .
