Charlie called this morning (which he rarely does, in case the baby is sleeping ) and told me one of my friends (well we were working on being friends, but it was hard to find time…. ) died of a brain tumor this morning …
She’s been sick a while and our schedules never really matched up.
DH called ME because she is the wife of one of founders of the company DH works at…
death sucks doesnt it?
She was only in her late 30s or 40

Recovery and our first week or so
I seem to have no time to get this done so I will be brief and say that my recovery was great.
I was a bit sore but when asked if I wanted to get up in my chair and move around and take a shower I jumped at it….
The more I did the less pain there was…. so DEFINITLY get your butt off the bed no matter how much it hurts after a section (assuming they are allowing you too!! )
My nurse did tell me that I do more than some of her able bodied patients and that a lot of women use the surgery as an excuse. (this was my 3rd surgery in 5 years…2nd “major” surgery” )
Anyways coming home was great… Will was cluster feeding the first night so it was rough.
I thought he might be allergic to dairy…but fortunatly he isnt… he is however VERY sensitive to seasoning and I LOVE spicy food……
The first week was really good. My mom was there so I was able to recover and heal and his first appointment was good and we even took him out shopping
I cant remember COMPLETE details…. our days just consisted of eating, poping sleeping and me resting while my mom cleaned… to mom

The weekend was really fun! We got there Friday night and visited a bit then crashed. Will slept GREAT….my mom kept waking up thinking I would need her
The next day I had two sisters and 5 nieces just GUSHING over him. Ooh, I guess I should say 3 sisters — my mom got a new chiuaua(sp) puppy. SHE is soooooo tiny and was just fascinated with the baby.

The morning I had the baby I decided I couldn’t sleep anymore around 3:15. That’s 45 minutes before we planned to get up. So Charlie helped me in the shower and went decided to lie back down. I got out, dressed and woke up the rest of the house.
We were out the door on time!
When we got to the 3rd floor and they took me to the monitoring room I just broke down in tears. I was so overcome with emotion I couldn’t hold back anymore. They weren’t tears of fear or anything like that. I was just finally a little nervous and excited and happy and so many different things all at once. Charlie and the nurse hugged me and then I was hooked up to the monitors.
We waited and waited. I saw my doctor and finally at 7:30 I saw the anestesiolgist. DH helped me into the surgery room as per my docs request and left while they tried the spinal.
It didn’t work. She’s tried but it didn’t travel up my spine so they put me under.
I woke up to my mom and Charlie. Charlie was showing me pics and video of Will when they brought him to me. I let him nurse and he latched on immediately!
That’s about it. My throat hurt from having been under (that’s the worse part) so I got a little ice and it felt better.
My family was there and it was wonderful being with everyone that I am close too.
My hospital stay was interesting. He was in the nursery more the first night than I wanted, but I couldn’t sleep so the rest of the time he only left to be assessed.
I let Charlie go home to get his last few nights of good sleep. I had lots of visitors and we came home Saturday

Well we tried the miracle blanket last night and WoW . .. that thing is wonderful.
He was still fussy as we wrapped him and for a minute or two later….
but he filled up his tummy, DH wrapped him and then comforted him for a couple minutes… when he finally got quiet DH put him in the bassinet and he feel asleep about 5-10 minutes later and sleep a good 3 hours…..I actually had to pump to empty my BBs…. and then we started making noise to wake him up so he’d eat (dh gave him EBM)
Then he slept 4 hours, ate and then slept 3 or so…

Things are going well….
He seems to still gives us enough good nights that things even out and we arent zombies…
Yesterday a friend of Charlie’s came to visit. He’s a Grad Student in San Diego that was down for the holidays. His name is Alex. Anyways he was totally in AWE of Will and said that he was like Charlie (scared of kids) but he said that looking at William he can defefinitly see what all the hype of having kids is about. (not his exact words, but more or less….)
